Albert Thomas Obituary

Our Daddy, Albert Standley Thomas closed his eyes on Friday, September 13, 2013 for the last time on earth and awoke in the merciful arms of his Savior! Waiting for him in Heaven was Jesus; along with our mother, Wynona Suzanne Nelson Thomas; his parents, Labin Gilbert and Frances Hodge Thomas; his brothers; Ernest Thomas, Crit Thomas, & Newton Thomas; and his sisters, Alta Mae Brownfield, Muriel Thomas Wright and Oletha Thomas Murphy!

Daddy was born on his parent's farm south of Boswell, Oklahoma, November 17, 1930. This is where he was raised and lived until he married our mother in 1950. Daddy moved back to "The Farm" after the passing of our mother in 2007.

In the early 1950s Daddy worked for W.W. Steel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and then Hughes Tool Company in Houston, Texas. In 1955 Daddy started working at General Dynamics, in Fort Worth, TX. Daddy worked at GD for 32 years while at the same time; owned and operated (with the help of our mother) his own plumbing business in Granbury, Texas.

Daddy was very talented! He could build, make and fix anything! Musically, he could play any string instrument he picked up. He had the most beautiful voice with a range of high tenor to bass and loved to yodel! He also enjoyed making fish nets, and pocket knives. He loved to hunt, fish, and did lapidary work. Daddy enjoyed farming & working his cows; but his greatest joy came from time spent with his family & close friends.

Our Daddy was a wonderful son to his parents, brother to his siblings, and husband to our mother. From him, we, his children and grandchildren learned about his and God's unconditional love, faithfulness, trust, integrity, honesty, and the fruits hard work. Daddy didn't go to church often; but he lived as though he was in the presents of God each moment.

Left to grieve; but at the same time rejoicing in the fact that Daddy went home with full and certain knowledge of his faith in Jesus; are his son & daughter-in-law, Stanley & Terry Thomas of Boswell, Oklahoma; and four daughters and their husbands, Carolyn & Donny Sorensen of Dobbin, Texas; Sandra & Bob Hudson of Granbury, Texas; Janice Misner of Weatherford, Texas, and Wynona & Gary Swaim of Granbury, Texas. Also left behind are his 15 grandchildren & their spouses, and 38 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and his dear friends the Julian Massey family and Wendell Gee family of Granbury, Texas.

Visitations were held at Wiley's Funeral Home in Granbury, TX on Monday evening, September 16th from 6:00-8:00; and at the Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Boswell, Oklahoma on Tuesday evening, September 17th from 6:00-8:00pm.

The celebration of Daddy's life was held at the First Baptist Church in Boswell, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 18th at 10:00am; with burial at the Crowder Springs Cemetery south of Boswell.

The eulogy was performed by our cousin, Dr. Dennis A. Wright, of Cleburne, Texas and Daddy's pastor, Rev. Hal Wychopen, pastor at Plantersville Baptist Church, Plantersville, Texas. Pallbearers were his grandsons; Nathan Grissom, Brandon Hudson, Eric Swaim, Carey Swaim, Wade Patterson, and William Fowler. Honorary pallbearers are; Otis Sutterfield and Carl Chandler of Boswell, OK.

We wish to thank Dr. Michael Adamo, DO of Fort Worth for his many years of dedication and care to parents. Thank you Amanda, Jennifer and Sandy from Health Care Innovations Home Health of Hugo, Oklahoma for your love and care while Daddy was still living at home, "in the barn" in Oklahoma. To Terri, Suzanne, Melissa, Caroline, and Kay; the precious ladies from Embracing Hospice of Conroe, Texas; thank you so much for the wonderful care, love and guidance you shared during Daddy's last 9 months at our home in Dobbin, Texas. You helped us and taught us so much. God bless you all for the love & care you expressed to us during these last months.
