STATESBORO, Ga. -- Settler Elton Sims passed away Tuesday, September 10, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was a native of Bulloch County. Mr. Sims was born April 6, 1925, to Elder Settler Sims and Louise Cribbs Sims. A lifelong farmer, he enjoyed his guitar and fishing. Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sarah Lois Olliff Sims.

Surviving are his five children, Dennis E. Sims (Carolyn) of Brooklet, Randy Sims, Armenda S. Barnes (Gary W.), James Sims (Melanie), all of Statesboro, and Rex Sims (Angie) of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Lorine Smith. He is also survived by his wife, Mildred West, and her children. Elton had 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. John Long and Elder Keith Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
