Estella "Stella" Confer Burman, 82, beloved wife of Henry M, Burman who preceded her in death in 2000, passed away after a brief illness, June 6, 2005 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by her 4 children. Henry and Stella were married for 54 years. Born February 27, 1923 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of Russell and Helen Lucas Confer. She was a graduate of Bellefonte High School class of 1941, and was one of the early female drum majors in the country, performing for the Bellefonte High School marching band for 4 years. She was also a graduate of the Metropolitan Hospital School of Nursing in New York, NY. On December 15, 1945 she married Henry Moore Burman. Stella is survived by her sister, Virginia Confer Ulrich, Bellefonte, sons Brian Burman and wife Kathy, Lilburn GA, Russell Burman and wife Robin, State College, daughters Barbara Ermol and husband Larry State College, and daughter Tina Burman, Allentown. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Paula McCartney, Kevin Ermol, Marnell Burman, Brianne Burman and CJ Burman, as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Lea and Ben McCartney. Stella found great pleasure in providing a fun and loving home. Her many interests included cooking for her family, collecting and displaying antiques, adopting and caring for stray animals that crossed her path and growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. She also took great interest in her families history. She was instrumental in the research and publication in 1996 of "Our Family .... the sowing of the seed", a detailed compilation of family genealogy. Service Thursday June 9, at W.
