Life's Work/Service/Interests: Following his military service, Derrel served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Southern States Mission. He attended Brigham Young University earning a bachelor's degree and master's degree, later receiving a special education certification.
In 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Leila Lundquist, in the Logan Temple. Upon graduation, he achieved his goal of becoming a seminary teacher for the LDS Church, where he touched many lives for good. Derrel taught seminary in Randolph, Morgan, (19 yrs), Orem, Timpview, and the American Fork Training School. His passion was teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to his students, family and others with whom he came in contact, sharing his testimony by word and example throughout his life.
He will be remembered for his love of people, family, church and country, flying four American flags on his porch.
He and Leila sponsored Clara Gonzales Miner from Chile who became a part of the family. He faithfully served in many Church callings including: Bishoprics, High Councils, Stake Young Men President, and director of the Edgemont Stake Family History Center. Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, Derrel Wesley Judd, passed away at Utah Valley Hospital Sept 2, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
Survived By: His children: Dennis (Carol) Judd, Naples, UT; Marjalee (Rodger) Smith, Mountain Green, UT; Ralph (Patricia) Judd, Sandy, UT; Anne Judd, Provo, UT; Keith (Chris) Judd, Santaquin, UT; Mary (Jeff) Hill, Provo, UT; 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His wife, Leila; sisters, Wanda Glover and Lucille Asay; brothers, Harmon and Frank Judd.
