James Thomas "Tommy J." Eggleston, 77, of 5507 Figsboro Road, Martinsville, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Danville Regional Hospital.

He was born in Franklin County to Joseph Richard Eggleston and Nannie Wingfield Eggleston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; three sisters, Johnsie Wells, Josephine Haynes and Mary Elizabeth Eggleston; and two brothers Randolph Davis and Phillip Gordon Eggleston.

He was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge No. 90 and of Chatham Heights Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Brodie Eggleston of the home; two daughters, Glenda Ruth Eggleston and Teresa Jane Eggleston, both of the home; two sons, Terry James Eggleston and David Lewis Eggleston, both of Martinsville; a sister, Bernice E. Oakes of Penhook; a brother, Jack Eggleston of Martinsville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with Minister Alan Vaughan officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home on Figsboro Road.
