Ruth Brodie Eggleston, 87, of Martinsville, Va. passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018. She was born on April 20, 1931 to the late Cabel Lewis Brodie and Emily Campbell Brodie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Eggleston; daughter, Glenda Eggleston; sister, Emily Jane Brodie; and an infant daughter.

She worked as a librarian for the Henry County Public School System and was a member of Chatham Heights Christian Church.

Mrs. Eggleston is survived by her daughter, Teresa Jane Eggleston of the home; sons, Terry James Eggleston and wife Lisa of Brandenburg, Ky., and David Lewis Eggleston of Martinsville, Va.; brothers, David Brodie and wife Nancy of Snow Creek, Va., and Buddy Brodie and wife Peggy of Figsboro, Va. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Adrianne Martin, Jessica Branch, Ashley Compton, and Robert Eggleston; four great-grandchildren, Kailey Martin, Shawn Doyle, Keaton Martin, Travis Eggleston, and Jackson Branch; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Minister Dean Ashby officiating. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Adult Day Care Center, 4020 Sunset Drive, Martinsville, Va. 24112.
