Paul V. "Pete" Hemmer Age 94, of Hilliard, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Pete was born on February 14, 1919 in Indianapolis. Preceding him in death were his wife of 52 years Helen (Sullivan) Hemmer, his parents Serena (Kirkhoff) and Bernard Hemmer, brother Thomas Hemmer, sisters Anna Mae Kelsch Kilpatrick, Serena Wells, Dorothy Schoettle, Mildred Burch, Mary Hemmer, and Bernadette Yoder.

He is survived by his beloved wife Pauline ("Polly") Masters Hemmer, daughters Christine (Charles) Bright, Susan (Russell) Adams, Peggy Hemmer, and Mary Beth (David) Aeh, sons Paul K. (Joanna) Hemmer and John Hemmer, grandchildren Dylan and Kristan Bright, Julie (Chris) Cheatham, Molly Cotton, Thomas Morbitzer (Goil Amornvivat), Kevin, Ryan, and Lauren Aeh, Katherine, Andrew and Margaret Hemmer, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews

After their marriage late in life Pete was also lovingly embraced by Polly and her children Kathleen Masters, Eric (Kathy) Masters, Geoff (Margie) Masters, Theresa (Ted) Tetirick, Christine (Brad) Ward, Rosemary (Ray) Castle, Frank (Karla) Masters and Steve (Cathy) Masters and 15 grandchildren

Pete was an Army Air Corps officer veteran of WWII

He enjoyed a long and successful career in the railroad industry during which he was a tireless advocate for working men and women

He loved the Lord, his family, his country and the University of Notre Dame. He promoted Catholic Education and held numerous leadership posts for Catholic charities.

He enjoyed golf for more than seventy years and possessed an unlimited joke repertoire. Pete was a consummate gentleman, a leader and an unmatched example for those who have followed him. He will be dearly missed.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Tidd Funeral Home 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard, OH 43026. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 am Friday at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic church 4475 Dublin Rd. Hilliard, OH 43026 with Father John Johnson officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
