Pauline "Polly" Masters Hemmer left us to join her heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the age of 95.

She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, one of six children and was working as a secretary when she was swept off her feet by the dashing Frank E. Masters, a Communications major at OSU. They were married and in quick succession brought eight children into the world.

She left the work force and built a solid and stable home for all of us while Dad traveled and put in long hours to provide for us. We never had much money but we were clothed, fed, tended and loved. We never felt deprived. They even saw their lifelong dream fulfilled: that of providing all eight of us with a college education. '

They launched us successively out into the world and watched with pride as we each made our way. When Dad died in 1992 she moved into a condo which she loved.

She enjoyed her flowers, her piano and her independence until 2002 when a handsome neighbor began knocking on her door and she found herself falling in love again. She married Paul Hemmer later that year, joining families for a combined total of 14 children. They enjoyed each other's companionship until his death in 2013.

Mom always had a servant's heart. She drove people to church, took care of both her aging father and uncle, made meals for the bereaved, and worked at the Pregnancy Care Center sewing and crocheting items for those in need. Even now there are some little girls in Africa delighted to be wearing her dresses and young mothers with handmade caps and sweaters for their newborns. She loved her church family at St. Brendan parish, having a long-standing Bible Study group there as well as serving as a greeter and RCIA sponsor and singing in the choir. She also shared her craft-making skills with a group of women at the Hilliard Senior Center for years, a place she loved to go. When the condominium became too much for her to manage, she lived with her daughter, Rose, and her husband, Ray, for four years, having precious independence within a loving framework of safety and comfort. Last year she moved into an apartment in The Grand of Dublin, surrounded by all her familiar things and hosting all her children and friends until the end of her days.

Polly is survived by her fourteen children (and their spouses):

- With Frank Masters, she had her daughters Kathleen Masters, Theresa(Ted) Tetirick, Christine (Brad) Ward, and Rosemary (Ray) Castle, and her sons Eric (Kathy) Masters, Geoff (Marjie) Masters, Frank (Karla) Masters, and Steve (Cathy) Masters.

There are also sixteen wonderful grandchildren and two great-grandchildren from this- marriage.

When she married Paul Hemmer she gained Christine (Charles) Bright, Susan
(Russell) Adams, Peggy (Ronald) Hartford, Mary Beth (David) Aeh, Paul K.
(Joanna) Hemmer, and John Hemmer.

These children gave rise to 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Although she was the youngest of her six siblings (and the last survivor) there are many, many other members of her extended family as well as many friends who will miss her.

Polly's legacy will roll on through the generations to come.
