Francis E. Holley, 86,
of (Hayts Corners) Ovid, NY passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 8, 2008, at Cayuga Medical Center.
Family will be present to receive friends on Monday, August 11, 2008 from 12-2PM at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 S. Main St., Ovid, NY. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Diane Walker, will be held at the funeral home immediately following calling hours at 2PM. Burial will be in Ovid Union Cemetery.

Born February 25, 1922, Francis was a son of the late Howard and Minnie (Whitaker) Holley. After graduation from Ithaca High School, he joined the US Army where he proudly served for over three years. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, Francis went to work as a heavy equipment operator at the former Seneca Army Depot. He spent over thirty years in a job he loved and formed many lifelong friendships along the way. The most important thing in life to Francis was his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He was always there to offer help and support. He was happiest when he was in his home spending time with his wife and working on his home.
Francis leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Laura "Peggy" (Sullivan) Holley of Ovid; a daughter, Barbara (Gary) Alger of Ovid; a son John "Jack" (Linda) Holley of Ovid; his grandchildren, Chris (Carol) Alger of Fulton, Shelley Reynolds of Ovid, Laurie (Andrew) Nass of Romulus and Kathy Robinson of Ovid; great-grandchildren, Joshua Alger, Mitchell and Abigail Alger, Brett Robinson and Holly Reynolds. Francis is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Rumsey and Helena (Bill) Goodwin; his brothers, Richard Holley, and Robert (Linda) Holley; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Holley; sisters, Mildred Rumsey, Doris Oakley and Marion Lovelace; and brothers, Raymond Holley and Harland Holley.
