-----------

PARENTS: Edgar was the second son of William Welcome (Welk) Willhelm (1843-?) born in Hamilton County, Tennessee. With his brother Arch, Welk joined and served in the Army of the Confederacy with Co. C - 15th (Northwest) Arkansas Infantry and saw battle at Corinth, Pea Ridge/Elk Horn, and Vicksburg. His parents removed from Franklin County, Arkansas to Texas the duration of the Civil War. Welk later met and married Mary Elizabeth Cowan (1843-1894) at her home in Florence, Williamson County, Texas on Dec. 20, 1866. When faced with hanging for a possible murder charge in 1883, Welk abandoned his wife and their young children, and fled Texas. After a few letters to/from his parents' home in Arkansas, nothing more was heard from him. Do you know more?

PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS: Pleasant Wilhelm and Virginia Jane Lockmiller. Pleasant was a grandson of Tobias Wilhelm of Alabama.

EDGAR's SIBLINGS: Addie (1867-1904); James Arthur (1872-1942); Mary Virginia (1875-1898); Grace Idena (1877-1899); Joseph Flemon (1879-abt.1959); Ollie Josephine (1881-1967); and Alice Emily (1883-1962).

EDGAR'S WIFE: Rebecca Orlena Hurley married Edgar on Dec. 8, 1889 at her home in Katemcy, Mason Co., TX by a Rev. Black of the Methodist faith. Their seven children were: Glenn 1890-1982, Arch Willhelm, Fred Willhelm; May Willhelm Alexander, Olive Willhelm, Art Willhelm and Beatrice Willhelm Reiswig Steeves.

I welcome emails from researchers or descendants. NOTE: Edgar used three "L's" in his surname unlike some of his family.
