This morning, at his home, 159 Rosalia street, occurred the death of one of the best known residents of the Second ward.
Peter Auler, who for the past ten years or more has been recognized as one of the prominent ward workers for the Democratic party and "Auler's store" has by common consent been the meeting place for political gatherings of both Republicans and Democrats.
Mr. Auler has had pneumonia on two previous occasions, so that when he was again stricken a week ago Tuesday, his condition at once became alarming and he grew gradually worse until he passed away at eight o'clock this morning. His son, Charles Auler, arrived from Chicago a few hours before death occurred, and was recognized by the parent.
The deceased was a man possessed of many good traits, and his death will be truly mourned by a large circle of acquaintances.
Deceased was fifth-three years of age on November 30 last.He was born in Germany and has been a resident of Oshkosh since 1864. For the past fifteen years he has conducted a grocery store and saloon at the corner of Winnebago and Rosalia streets. Previous to that he was in the employ of the Banderob-Chase Furniture Company, as foreman, for eight or nine years. The only organization to which he belonged was the Sons of Hermann. A wife and seven children, Mrs. William Schmid, Alma Auler, Walter Auler, Peter Auler Jr. and Harold Auler, all of Oshkosh, and Charles Auler of Chicago and Ernest Auler, Bloomington, IL survive.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the last residence.
