Luther was a son to Ellis Eskew and Rebecca Lorentz. Ellis fought for the Upshur Home Guard during the Civil War. Norval married on 3 Dec 1913 in Upshur Cty WV to Freda J. (Alkire) and she was born 21 Jul 1894 and died 7 Mar 1982. Their children: Russell Merl 9 Apr 1919 - 14 Apr 1975; Doyle Ray 1925 - 3 May 2007; Ruth (Loudin - moved to New Hampshire); Fay (Rapp - moved to New Jersey); Fern (Graves) 1929 - 1959; Vera (Scott); Ellis; and Kenneth.
