Obituary published in the Defiance Crescent-News Oct. 14, 1946 page 2 column 6:

Lester Carl Ankney, 48, route 5, a truck driver for the C.F. Kellermyer Coal and Builders Supply Co. until becoming sick last march was declared dead after arrival at defiance hospital at 10:45 p.m. Sunday in a city police car.

He was downtown in an automobile when stricken with a heart attack and police rushed him to the hospital.

The funeral will be Thursday afternoon at Mansfield funeral home where the body will remain. Hour of service will be announced Tuesday after word is received from relatives. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.

Mr. Ankney leaves his wife Alta, 2 sons Melvin M. Ankney, Bryan, and Floyd Nelson Ankney, at home. A stepson Charles McAdams on the Great Lakes with the Merchant Marine, 2 daughters Mrs. Betty VanDyke, Delta and Miss Esther Marie Ankney at home, a step daughter Mrs. Madonna Figgins, Bryan. 4 sisters Mrs. Carrie Long, Carleton, Mich, Mrs. Clara Evick, Toledo, Mrs. Yetta Hale, Michigan Center, Mich and Mrs. John Zimmerman, New Philadelphia and 2 grandchildren.
