SMITH, Louise Cameron age 87, of Monroe, OH passed away May 9, 2013 after three days in Intensive Care at the Atrium Medical Center of Middletown. She had battled cardiovascular disease for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Carl Walter Smith. Born in Miami, FL, she was a resident of Ohio for sixty years, residing in Monroe since 1963. Louise Smith was a lifelong volunteer. She served as a Gray Lady at the former Middletown Hospital for several decades. She volunteered at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village for many years, helping teach arts and crafts to the residents. She was a member of the Monroe Current Events Club. Devoted to the preservation of local Monroe history, Mrs. Smith was a volunteer worker at the Monroe Historical Society and Monroe Museum. She was a member of Monroe Presbyterian Church. Five years ago she moved to Mount Pleasant Retirement Village. She leaves three children, daughter Helen Schrier [Paul] of Germantown, TN, Chuck Smith of Mason, OH and Jim Smith of Cincinnati, OH, three grandchildren David [Hileri] Schrier and Robert Schrier of Memphis, TN and Autumn Smith of Marietta, GA, and two great-grandchildren, Emma Schrier and Henry Schrier of Memphis, TN. Graveside services are scheduled for 11AM Tuesday, May 14 at the North Monroe Cemetery on Cincinnati-Dayton Road. There will be no visitation. Baker-Stevens- Parramore Funeral Home of Middletown has charge. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any remembrances be made to the Monroe Historical Society at 2 E. Elm St., Monroe.
