Early Life: Eleanor was born November 6, 1917, in San Francisco, California, to Ivan Alexander and Stella Beesley Dahlquist. She grew up in Salt Lake City.
Education: UCLA
Life's Work/Service/Interests: On November 29, 1940, Eleanor married her high school sweetheart and eternal companion, John Taylor Cardall in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. John had returned from an LDS mission to Germany. Eleanor graduated from UCLA with honors, then taught shorthand and typing. She worked with her husband in their Poolchlor business for many years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She was a scholar of the gospel and taught Book of Mormon studies in Relief Society for several years. She was also a Relief Society president and stake missionary with her husband. She was actively engaged in family history research and temple work and also learned to do name extractions for the Church. She loved to serve others and over the years baked hundreds of loaves of bread to give away and wrote countless notes of cheer and encouragement to friends and anyone she felt needed a lift. She always said her four children were her hobby, and she was very involved in the lives of her kids and grandkids, always ready to assist them in any way. She was always generous with her time, talents, and money to help others, and was loved by so many people. Eleanor and John loved to travel and they visited many places around the world. Israel was their favorite place and they returned many times to visit the sites where the Savior was born and lived.
