Ruth L. Hensel, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2013, while a resident of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg.

She was born April 7, 1924 in Chambersburg, the daughter of the late David B. and Susan E. (Lehman) Heisey.

Ruth was the widow of John Wenger, Jacob Lehman, and most recently John Hensel who passed away in March.

Ruth worked along side her first husband at Wenger's Home Bakery in Chambersburg for 30 years. She then worked at Leader Nursing Home in Elizabethtown for 7 years and was instrumental in starting the Physical Therapy Dept. and later at Lancaster Mennonite Home for 6 years. Ruth moved to Messiah Village and continued to work, retiring at the age of 75.

Ruth was a member of Messiah Village Brethren in Christ Church, Mechanicsburg.

She is survived by one daughter Linda J. Byers and her husband Ethelbert of Chambersburg. A son-in-law, William Fritz, of Mountville. Ruth also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 step children, and numerous step-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda K. Fritz, one grandson and one step-son.

Services will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at 11:00 am in the Messiah Village BIC Church, 100 Mt. Allen Dr., Mechanicsburg. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be held Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the Air Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg.
