Charles "Charlie" Mason Brown, age 84, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at the Athens Rehabilitation and Senior Care Center. Mr. Brown was born August 10, 1929, in Limestone County to George Washington Brown and Sue Ella Hall Brown.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Sardis Springs Church of Christ. He was a retired brick mason, a former owner of Charlie Brown's Restaurant in Elkmont, and a retired truck driver for Avigen. He was a U.S. veteran of the Korean War, an avid NASCAR fan and a friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Brown of Athens; four sons, Andy Brown and wife, Cratie of Franklin, TN, Randy Brown and wife Jo of Athens, Jeff Brown and wife Tina of Opelika, AL, and Kevin Brown and wife Pam of Athens; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Eddie Littrell officiating. Burial will be in Reunion Cemetery.
