Several of the Wikle families were moving from Augusta County, Virginia, migrating west, as the Native American land treaties opened up new settlement areas. Susannah's parents Philip and Anna Catherine Michael Wikle had purchased land in Monroe County, (Virginia) and then sold and relocated to Clinton and Green County Ohio. Susannah married Evan Ogan on September 20th, 1824, in Clinton County Ohio.

She is discussed in "History of Bureau County, Illinois" by Henry C. Bradsby", with her last name being spelled incorrectly as Wycle. "The mother of our subject, Susan Wycle Ogan, was of German descent. She was born in Ohio, but died in this county. They were the parents of eighteen children--ten sons and eight daughters--all of whom are still living, except one daughter, who died in September of 1881. The others are scattered through several States. Four of the sons went through the war with Grant and Sherman, and, though wonded, all survived. Evan Ogan came to this county with his family in 1848 and settled on the farm now owned by his son Philip.
