Truman Alpheus Young was born in Augusta Township. His parents were Ephraim and Mary Young. He worked as a contractor in the Ottawa area. He married Jane Connell (1841-1910) and they had four children, Hester Ann (1866-1908), Mary Jane "Minnie" (1868-1939), Alfred G. (1869-1941) and Sara Ella (1875-1950). Truman retired and was predeceased by his wife Jane. He died of pneumonia in 1925.
