*John C. PITTS, Union, Capt. Richardson's Company C, Hickory County, Battalion, Osage County Regiment, Missouri Home Guard

*He does not have a pension. He was in one of these units that no one knew what to do with after the war! In 1863 Congress set up a Commission to study what to do with these units and to decide the claims of these men. Your John C. Pitts is mentioned somewhere in these documents. To what extent I have no way of knowing.
These records are not indexed and are grouped under Archive Record Groups, meaning you have to go through all the records to find who you are looking for. To search them involves a search fee based on time it takes to locate the person. Some of the men have additional records under the US Adjutant General's Office. If this is the case then there is more time needed to locate these additional records.
