* Documentation taken from Fold-3 Military Records and a Book confirm the following: Barney Pitts, age 18, a farmer, born in Hickory County, Missouri, enlisted with the 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, USA on May 17, 1863 in Rolla, Missouri. {Muster Roll Cards were written by Different Clerks; so Clerical Errors ARE Noted.} August 17, 1863 Absent, Sick in General Hospital at Clarendon, Missouri. {Has to be: Arkansas. The 8th Cavalry was in Arkansas at that time!} January 1, 1864 Absent, Sick at St. John's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas as Patient. February 27, 1864 Headquarters, 7th Army Corps, Department of Arkansas, Little Rock: 'To be Discharged by Order of Maj.-Gen. F. Steele'. March 2/8, 1864 Discharged on Surgeon's Certificate for Disability {Soldier had organic disease of right side of heart, causing general dropsy.} at Little Rock, Arkansas General Hospital. Pension Card revealed Date of Death as: July 7, 1926 in Gates, Oklahoma. {Beaver County}. - Ralph Biggs
