Winston-Salem--Shelby (Culler) Thomas, 72, of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her home. Ms. Thomas was born September 24, 1937 in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Robert Culler and the late Lutitia (Reich) Culler. She was a retired computer operator with Wachovia Bank with over 24 years of service. During retirement, she work at Food Fair and was a Crossing Guard for Winston-Salem Schools. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Short and brothers, Richard "Dick" Culler, and Agnew Culler.
She is survived by her sisters, Bernice Scales, Imogene Marion and husband Wendell, and Faye Dowell and husband Sam; nieces, Hollie Cooke and Sue Hendley; sister-in-law, Mary Culler and Norma Culler; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Tony Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
