Bernice C. Scales Nov. 28, 1925 ~ Aug. 25, 2011 Mrs. Bernice C. Scales, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Wake Forest Medical Center. She was born November 28, 1925 in Forsyth County to Robert W. and Luticia Reich Culler. Mrs. Scales was a charter member of Griffith Baptist Church. She was retired from the dry cleaning business after 50+ years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.W. Scales, Jr.; two sons; three sisters; and two brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Hagie of Clemmons; one son, Billy Scales (Lola) of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Misty Glover (Todd) of Winston-Salem and Dalton Scales (Brandy) of Charlotte; three great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Ryan and Ella; one great-great grandchild, Lexi; and two sisters, Imogene Marion (Wendell) of Pfafftown and Faye Dowell (Sam) of Maryland. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 28 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , 1004 N. Main St., High Point, NC 27262. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Creekside Terrace for their kindness, care and support.
