Jay B. Jacobs, 87, Lewisburg, and formerly of Bellefonte, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Evangelical Hospital in Lewisburg. He was born May 29, 1917 in Carlisle, to the late Rev. Harry Halbert Jacobs and Emma Catherine Bascom Jacobs. On June 28, 1941 in Bellefonte, he married Mary E. Haines Jacobs who died on October 23, 2002. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Jacobs of State College and Melissa E. Jacobs of Scranton; two sons, Jay B. Jacobs, Jr. of Trout Run and Rev. Thomas H. Jacobs and his wife Eilene of State College; two grandchildren, Nathan Jacobs and his wife Kirsten of OH and Heather Jacobs of NC and two great grandchildren, Maura & Isaac Jacobs of OH. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Dimmick and one brother, Harry Jacobs. He was a 1935 graduate of Danville High School. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. Mr. Jacobs was a retired Bellefonte Borough Councilman and a volunteer for RSVP. Within his church he served on the parish committee and was a lay delegate to the annual conference. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was also a member of the Beaver Memorial Church in Lewisburg. He was a foreman in the Raw Materials Department at Cerro Metal Products in Bellefonte. Funeral Monday, March 7, 2005 at Faith United Methodist Church, Bellefonte, Rev. Doyle Klinger officiating. Burial in Centre County Memorial Park. [Centre Daily]
