Mr. Benton Blair Ball, 81, of Athens, AL, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013, at his residence.


Mr. Ball was born April 28, 1932, in Limestone County to Luther Ball and Brentie Graham Ball.


Mr. Ball became a Christian as a teenager and was a member of the Market Street Church of Christ. He was a 1952 graduate of Clements High School. He graduated from Athens College in 1972. He retired from Wolverine Tube in Decatur and was an Army veteran.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Garner Ball and son, Randy Ball.


Survivors include his wife, Gayle Ball of Athens; son, Anthony Ball and wife Ellen of Athens; daughters, Wanda Gunter and husband Mike of Athens; Carol Lee and husband Frankie of Athens; stepson, Jimmy Woodward and wife Joy of Athens; stepdaughter, Phyllis Lomas and husband Curtis of Athens; sisters, Bell Long of Arkansas, Naomi Garner of Athens, Wilma Dean Adams of Athens; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.


Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Dement Cemetery. David Cox and Jordan Lovell officiating.
