Aaron William Broadway, 84, of Bugtussel Road, died Wednesday (October 23, 2002) in Lincoln Skill Care Center. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Moses William and Ava Elizabeth Ashby Broadway. Mr. Broadway was retired from Sterchi's Furniture Store, and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served on the Flag Staff of Admiral Halsey in the Pacific during WWII in the USS Saratoga. He was a 50-plus year Mason and charter member of the VFW, American Legion, and Kiwanis Club. He is survived by two daughters, Kay Good and husband, David, of Fayetteville, and Pat Stover and husband, Dan, also of Fayetteville; four sisters, Maxie Carter of Germantown, Louise Bordinaro of Arlington, Texas, Aline Harris and Alvarine Broaday Hartwell, both of Nashville; grandchildren, Amy Good Keith of Harvest, Alabama, Melanie Good Britton and Amanda Good Bussey, both of Nashville, Erin Stover of Knoxville, and Christopher Stover of Fayetteville; two great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons. Mr. Broadway was preceded in death by sisters, Muriel Taylor and Elizabeth Broadway, and by a brother, James Broadway. Funeral services were held Friday morning at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hughes officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery beside his wife, Era S. Broadway, who died in 2001.
