KALKASKA - Alta L. Allen, 94, of Kalkaska, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Munson Medical Center. She was born in Kasson Township on July 15, 1908, the daughter of Abraham and Theda (Sattler) Hart. Alta attended Bible Baptist Church in Traverse City. Her family and her relationship with God were the most important things in her life. She enjoyed traveling to Canada with her family and had a love of baking.
Alta is survived by three children, Howard D. (Loma) Allen of Mancelona, B. Ulaine (Fred) Peplinski of Maple City and D. Ron (Pauline) Allen of Mancelona; and an adopted granddaughter, Ulaine Allen of Kalkaska. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, John Allen, in 1977; a son, Alvin Allen, in 1975; a daughter, Reta Edgerton, in 2001; five brothers, four sisters and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes this evening, June 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, at the funeral home, with Pastor Gerald Bauman officiating. Interment will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
