Delbert "Ron" Allen
April 12, 1943 — January 2, 2024

Delbert Ronald "Ron" Allen, 80 of Mancelona, passed away January 2, 2024 at Munson Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1943 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, the son of John and Alta (Hart) Allen.

Ron was a man who wore many hats! He was a dedicated employee of Tri Gas in Mancelona where he worked long hours, and retired in 2008 after 40 years of service as the branch manager. For 10 years he was a volunteer on the Traverse City Fire Department and was a member of the Rotary Club for many years too. Ron was the past Mayor of Mancelona and for years brought joy to local children by playing Santa Claus at the area schools.

The most important part of Ron's life was spending time with his family. Each and every one of them were special in their own way to him. Whether they were riding tractors around the property, farming, working on a project together (he could fix just about anything), camping or fishing, he enjoyed his time with them. He also enjoyed traveling in the winter months to warmer weather and had taken several cruises he had enjoyed over the years.

On January 20, 1962 in Kalkaska he married Pauline Tice, his loving wife of almost 62 years, who survives.

Also surviving are his children Rhonda (Dennis) Jones of Mancelona, Randy (Tresa Henderson) Allen of Mancelona, Renee Allen of Bellaire, grandchildren Justin, Joshua, Timmy, Alyssa, Kerri, Brittney, Alexis, Dylan, Deryk, Kirstyn, Jon, 16 great grandchildren, brother in law Fred Peplinski, and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin and Howard, sisters Rita and Ulaine.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6 at 1 p.m. at Breath of Life Ministries in Alba with Dr. Rev. Ron Hansen officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. Memorial contributions can be given to the charity of ones choice.

Ron's funeral service will be streamed live on Facebook on Ron Hansen's Facebook page for those who cannot attend.

Arrangements are in the care of the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home.
