Mary Elizabeth (White) Kester Erickson

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. W. H. Erickson, who died April 12, after a critical illness extending over two weeks, although she has been in ill health for some time. Rev. Gordon Luke of the Episcopal Church conducted the services.
Mary White Kester Erickson was born April 8, 1860, at Tualatin Plains, Oregon and is a member of a pioneer Oregon family. She lived for some years in Portland, and later in Pendleton, then moving to Pomeroy where she successfully engaged in the millinery business for several years.
Possessed of a charming personality and the graces that are associated with gentility and culture, Mrs. Erickson was loved by her many friends for those splendid qualities. Perhaps her optimistic outlook on life and cheery disposition coupled with native wit were outstanding attributes. She met her problems with courage, and even in the face of declining health which made it most difficult for her to get around without the aid of a cane, she greeted her friends cheerily and avoided burdening them with her troubles.
She is survived by her aged husband, sister, Mrs. Henry Thom of Newburg, Oregon; nieces Mrs. Kate Allen of Pomeroy, and Mrs. W. F. Taylor of Eugene, Oregon; and nephew, Earl White, Seattle.
She was a sister of the late Mrs. C.H. Seeley.
The pallbearers were W.J. Houser, H.L. Chard, E.O. Crump, G.W. Jewett, H.A. Adams, and J.F. Burr.
Interment was in the city cemetery.
