Joel A. Graff was born at his home in Soler Township, Roseau County to Juel and Agnes (Hudson) Graff on October 6, 1940. He was baptized and confirmed at the Oiland Lutheran Church of rural Greenbush. He attended school at Island Home, Haug-Leo, and Greenbush and received his G.E.D. in later years. Joel was united in marriage to Delphine Erickson on July 16, 1960 in Roseau, MN and they made their home in Greenbush. After being employed by various contractors and having to spend time away from his family, Joel purchased his first machine, a TS-14 Terex Scraper in 1975. As his business grew, so did his line up of equipment to accept any job big or small. Joel appreciated his customers and always gave them his best. He worked on many of the roads all thru out northern MN. For 33 years, his son Monte worked by his side. Joel also enjoyed his years of farming and built Joel's Car Wash in 1986. Papa enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and often attending his grandson's sporting events, traveling to the cities to watch his granddaughters dance performances. Joel was diagnosed with the rare Carcinoid Syndrome and passed away on June 28, 2013 at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau at the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 22 days.

Joel is survived by his wife Delphine, son Monte (Cindy) Graff both of Greenbush, his daughter Jodi (Dave) Kurtz of Apple Valley, MN, Grandchildren: Casey Graff of Fargo, Corey and Connor Graff of Greenbush. Jillian and Olivia Kurtz of Apple Valley, MN. Sister Annette Bergsnev of Greenbush, Brother Larry Graff of Moorhead, MN, Brother in law John Roggenbuck of Embarrass, MN, and sisters in law Darlene Trahan of Thief River Falls, MN and Ruth Graff of Greenbush, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pami Jo, parents in law, brother Robert Graff, sister JoAnn Roggenbuck and brother's in law Orin Bergsnev, A.J. Trahan, and nephew Randy Bergsnev.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Fa. Luis Buitron presiding. Jeanne Novacek will be the organist and songleaders are Jeanne Novacek, Darcy Hasson and Bill Forbister. Eucharistic Ministers are Annette and Alexis Graff. Cindy Graff is the Reader, Justice Erickson and Lisa Graff are the Gift Bearers, and the Eulogist is Joel's daughter Jodi Kurtz. Joel's Casket Bearers are Casey, Corey, and Connor Graff, Jillian and Olivia Kurtz, and Chad Erickson. Honorary Bearer is Gerald Graff,

Visitation is being held after 5:00PM, Tuesday at the Church, with a Prayer Service at 7:00PM. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services at the Church.

Interment services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery following services.
