She was born on May 16, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa. When she was 14 years old, her family moved to Los Angeles, where she finished high school a year later. On Nov. 27, 1935, she married Orval Harry Rose in Los Angeles. They moved to the San Francisco Bay area.
She worked for 20 years as a budget analyst for the federal government and for 15 years with the California Department of Employment. She moved to Grants Pass from Foster City, Calif., in March 1989.
Rose was an avid sports fan. In addition to playing golf, she enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Women's Bowling Association. She was also an honorary member of the Elks.
Survivors include a daughter; a sister, Rosemary Curling of Grants Pass; a grandson, Steven Viehweg of Phoenix, Ariz., and a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Nov. 18, 1985.
Private cremation rites were entrusted to Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment and services will be held at a later date at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, Calif.
