Dorothy was born Oct. 5, 1919, in Trail, Mo., to Edward and Minnie Orwick Pendergrass. Her mother died when she was one year old.

She was raised in Missouri and received her education there before moving to Colfax in 1937.

For many years she cooked at St. Ignatius Hospital, the Whitman Hotel and the Top Notch Cafe, all in Colfax. She also was a clerk at the Hamilton Drug Store for several years.

She married Howard Abbott Sept. 6, 1941. He died in 1996.

She enjoyed making crafts and playing bingo. She also was a member of the United Methodist Church at Colfax.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one brother and two sisters.
