She married Raymond S. Hewlett on December 16, 1944, who preceded her in death on September 15, 1986.
She is survived by two children, Patricia H. (Hal E.) Puffer and Raymond E. (Jennifer) Hewlett, both of Valparaiso, and a sister, Mary Jane Rush, of Wanatah. She dearly loved her grandchildren who survive; Dr. Bradley J. (Christie) Hewlett, Julie R. (Juan Torres, Jr.) Oelling, and Leslee R. (Thomas) Curtin, all of Chicago. She was so proud of their accomplishments. Also surviving are her four beautiful great grandchildren, JT, Lauren, Maeve, and Zoe.
Her parents, a brother, Mike Kutkiewicz, four sisters Irene Nielsen, Rose Bau, Ann Czerwonke, and Verna Shurte also preceded her in death.
She began her career during World War II at the Continental Diamond Fibre Company. In addition, Margaret retired from Valparaiso University in 1988, after serving 35 years in the Food Service Division. She enjoyed creating beautiful salads daily for her ‘hungry' students and made many friends with her student helpers.
She was a volunteer for the First Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso, where she was a member since 1986. She also dedicated her spare time to Visiting Nurses Association of Valparaiso, Porter Starke, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
Margaret will be remembered fondly for her love of family, her beautiful heart, and warm smile.
Visitation will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 3401 N. Valparaiso Street, Valparaiso, 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM this Friday, July 5. Funeral services immediately following visitation at the church with burial at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
