He was a retired miner and farmer and was born on October 2, 1877 in Saline County, son of the late James and Mary Bush McDermott. His wife, Cora McDermott died on Sept. 14, 1959. He was a member of the Ledford Baptist Church.
Surviving are seven children, James Omer McDermott, Milford, Mich., Harold McDermott, Pontiac Mich., Vollie McDermott, RFD 2, Harrisburg, Frank McDermott Jr., Chicago, Leo McDermott and Mrs. Clara Hatcher, both of RFD 2, Harrisburg and Mrs. Nona Gogue, Rockford, 49 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Loren McDermott and Floyd McDermott, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Gaskins Funeral Home.
The Rev. Ernest Ammon will officiate and burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
