TWIGG FRANKLIN

Twigg Franklin was the maternal great grandfather of Willie Winston (Bill ) Forsythe. Twigg was born to Martin (Mark) and Nancy Ann Franklin, Dec. 16, 1850, near Georganna, Butler Co. , Alabama. He died April 22, 1912, buried in Springhill Cemetery, Near Ringold, La. Twigg married Sabra Ann Hampton, born in Florida, July 29, 1850, died JAN. 29, 1929 in Epps, La. She is buried at Springhill Cemetery near Ringold, La. Twiggs was reared in Alabama on a plantation. He was named after David E. Twiggs, the Captain of the company his father Mark, served in during the war of 1812. When the Civil War started, he was to young to go, but lost two brothers in this war and one was wounded. Twiggs had a pet bear. As a young bear it loved to play but as he became larger he was to rough. Nancy sent Twiggs to get flour and warned him to slip off from the bear. He got the flour and was on his back when the bear jumped out of the brush on top of him. There was flour all over Twiggs and the bear. Nancy made him give the bear to a circus after his fathers death. Twiggs, his mother, Edmond his brother, and his sisters and fourteen wagons of kinfolks moved to Bienville Parrish, La., near Ringold. Twiggs and Sabra's children were…………
