BEATTYVILLE, KY – 15 October 1999 – Hobert Bowman, 82, passed away Friday, October 15, 1999 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Owsley County on October 9, 1917, to the late Green and Susie Young Bowman. He was a retired coal miner and a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Meyer Bowman; eight sons, Eldon, John, Steve, Darrell (Hobie), Michael, Anthony, and Lincoln Bowman and Jason Brown, all of Beattyville, Kentucky; six daughters, Judith Bailey of Beattyville, Kentucky, Billie Joyce Sergent of Danville, Kentucky, Marilyn Brandow of Waterford, Michigan, Carolyn Buston of Loogootee, Indiana, Cathy Thacker of Richmond, Indiana, and Susan Dunaway of Morrow, Ohio; 35 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a special grandson, Ethan; and several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are five brothers, Hubert Bowman of Winchester, Kentucky, Albert, Edgar, Homer and Willard Bowman all of Beattyville, Kentucky; and thre sisters, Dora Seale of Booneville, Kentucky, Anna Mae Snider of Hamilton, Ohio, and Hattie Barrett of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 19, 1999, 2:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Isaacs officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery , Booneville , Kentucky with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
