Second son of Sir Walter Blount and Helena Byron. John inherited his title from nephew, his older brother's son.
John married Lora Berkeley, the daughter of Edward Berkeley of Beverstone. They married about 1477 and had five children; William, Roger, Constance, John and Lora.
On his death, his title passed to his eldest son, William.
