OBIT
A Franklin County Coroner's Jury returned a verdict of death by suffocation and exposure in the case of a Royalton man found lying in a ditch Friday morning.
Joe Arnold, 73, was found about 8:15am lying face down in three inches of water. He was found by Thurlow Coulson of Royalton. Arnold fell from a concrete bridge about five feet above the ditch on North Main Street. Coroner Jess Britton said he will recommend that the Royalton City Council install a railing on the unprotected concrete bridge across the ditch.
Arnold was born in Franklin County June 7, 1886. A retired Miner, he was a World War l Veteran.
He leaves brothers, John Arnold, Rt2, Mulkeytown; Ben Arnold, Zeigler; Sisters, Mrs Cora Canada, Hilton, GA and Mrs Richard Bennett, Royalton, with whom Mr Arnold live.
Burial in Miners Cemetery, Royalton.
