Reed's wife, the former Ella Dollis Martin, was granddaughter of Abigail "Abby" Sherfey Martin. She is mentioned in Mrs. Martin's obit. Ella was the daughter of Annie Martin. (See pic of several headstones): Annie's son, John, is buried next to Reed. On the other side of John is Annie, then Annie is next to her sister, Arabelle Martin Smith. There is a marker for Reed Kilgore Booker at the foot of Reed's grave. This is his grandson.

Kilgore-Martin Marriage

Mr. Reed S. Kilgore of this place and Miss Ella Dollis Martin, the lovely daughter of Mr. and J. B. Martian [sic] of Mt. Hermon [sic], hied themselves to Moss, Tenn. last Saturday a week, and were married. Mr. Kilgore, who is Rural Carrier on route 3, left here that day, for fifteen days vacation, leaving the route in the hands of his assistant, Mr. Lewis Rogers. Saturday’s trip satisfied Mr. Rogers, who begun making the telephone wires hot in search of Mr. Kilgore. The message reached him after the ceremony, so he quietly returned his wife to her father, and came back home and returned to his work without telling any one of his good fortune. But of course the secret leaked out, and so last Sunday, he ‘fessed up, and brought his wife home. For the present, they are located at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Y. Kilgore.

THE DEATH OF REED KILGORE
Was One Of Finest Men Of The City; Carried Mail On Route 3 More Than Eighteen Years

Glasgow was grievously shocked Friday to hear of the death of Mr. Reed S. Kilgore at his home here at an early hour that morning. Mr. Kilgore was in his 41st year. Surviving are his wife and two children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Y. Kilgore, and the following brothers and sisters: Rev. Lewis Kilgore, Mr. Bolton Kilgore, Mrs. S. D. Gordon, Mr. Murray Kilgore, Mr. Joe Kilgore and Mrs. Evelyn Buttman. Funeral was at the home here Saturday, conducted by Rev. Gillespie, of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. Easley, of the Baptist church, and Rev. Piercy of the Methodist church. Interment in the Glasgow cemetery. Mr. Kilgore was one of the finest, truest characters the community has ever known. He was honest; he never mistreated living thing, or had an ill word or thought for anybody. He was a consecrated Christian, a member of the Glasgow Presbyterian church. For eighteen years he carried mail on Glasgow rural route three, and performed his duties in faithful, efficient manner. He resigned his position three months ago. The passing of Reed Kilgore removes one of God’s nobleman-a kind, considerate, courteous gentleman. Peace to his ashes.
