Green George, 75 of Valley View died at 12 p.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital after a month's illness of dropsy.
He was born, Spet. 30, 1856 at Paintsville, Ky, a son of Robert and Mary Leek George. He was married to Miss Sarah Dixon 53 years ago and to this union 10 children wer born. Two of the daughters died in childhood. For 23 years he was in the transfer business in Paintsville, Ky. He came to Portsmouth in 1908 and made his home on the West Side, where he farmed. He laso conducted a general store in Nauvoo. He was a member of the Old Fellows and the Methodist church south.
He is survived by his widow, who is seriously ill at her home and eight children. Mrs. J.P. Weber, city, Bert George, Valley View, William George, Sciotoville, Mrs. Dixie Doll, city, Carl George, City View, Edgar Georger, Robert George, Valley View and John C. George, city. He also leaves one brother Lee George of Sintonn, Texas, and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Brimm of Paintsville, Ky., and Mrs. Catherine Bays of Prestonburg, Ky.
Funeral services will be held from the home of his son, Bert George, of Valley View, because of the illness of Mrs. Green George, Sunday, at 2 p.m. Rev. James R Love will officate and burial will be in Rushtown Cemetery under the direction of Windel-Howland. The body may be viewed by friends at the home of the son.
