SUMTER — Emil George Bozanek, 88, husband of Charldeen Lorenc Bozanek for 65 years, died on Friday, May 5, 2006, at his home, 753 Mattison Avenue. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa January 11, 1918.

He served from 1942 until 1945 in the Army Signal Corps in France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Holland and Germany and was honorably discharged. He moved to Sumter, SC in 1955. He was owner of Bona Fide General Agency from 1959 until 1988 when he retired. After retirement he continued full-time volunteer work up until his passing. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sumter. Past Commander of American Legion Post 15 T.P.A., Sumter Palmetto Rotary, Board of Directors of Salvation Army, Greenhouse Runaway Shelter, Shalom Zone Ministries and many other organizations of which he was a proud member.

He was a loving husband, compassionate father, loyal friend, daily provider to the unfortunate and dedicated patriot that will be missed dearly.

Surviving are his wife of Sumter; three daughters, Carol Dacus McCarter and husband Don of Midland, TX, Emilie Beth Josephs of Loris, SC and Nancy Mae Seale and husband Julian of Summerville, SC; eleven grandchildren, Debbie Floyd, Paul Dacus, Trey Josephs, Mark Josephs, Blake Josephs, Julie Anne Kahler, Bille Seale, Christina Seale, Christy Hilbish, Hope Hilbish, Rebekah Hilbish; and ten great-grandchildren, Meagan and Montgomery Floyd, Vincent, Hannah and Matthew Josephs, Brock and Blair Josephs, Chandler, Payton Layne and Sydney Kahler. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Pamela Bozanek Hilbish and his brother Frank Bozanek in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mark Durrett and Rev. Josey Holler officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark J. Josephs, William V. Josephs, III, William H. Seale, Christopher Kahler, Paul E. Dacus and Cecil Walters.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
