One of Aultsville's most beloved citizens who practiced medicine in Aultsville over 50 years. He had a horse & buggy in summer & sleigh in winter when he made house calls. After his last house call he would jump in the buggy or the sleigh depending on the season, order his horse home and then he'd fall asleep. The horse never failed to get them both home safely.The horse's name was Julie.
Originally from Chesterville, Dr. Brown, affectionately known as 'Doc', arrived in Aultsville in 1901 and practiced until 1957 when he finally retired. Dr. Brown also attended to locals across the river on the American side, frequently crossing the river on ice during the winter. He was honoured by more than 1000 area residents in 1947.
