Obituary - G. Elmer "Kelly" Hanks, age 89, passed away Monday, November 17, 1997, in Springville, UT at the Todholm Care Center.
He was born on December 20, 1907, in Salem, UT. Kelly was the tenth child of Edward J. and Janet Underwood Hanks. He attended schools in Salem and Spanish Fork, UT.He married Lucille Lee on November 22, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a rancher and farmer all his adult life. He also worked as a truck driver for the Del Monte canning factory for 20 years and at Geneva Steel for 18 years.
He was a member of the LDS Church and held the office of High Priest at the time of his death.
Survivors include three sons, Ted L. Hanks (Della), Boyd E. Hanks (Deanna), both of Salem, and Kurt G. Hanks (Jennie), of Idaho, Corrine Hanks, a daughter-in-law, of Mapleton; they have a posterity of 24 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parent, five brothers, five sisters and a baby daughter.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Todholm care center of Springville, UT for their good and loving care rendered to him.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 19, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Salem LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 60 South Main, Salem. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork on Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday at the Ward Relief Society Room one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salem City Cemetery.
