Vivian B. Thompson Billings passed away on Monday December, 15, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Everett M. and Pearle Bare Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Bradley Billings, Six brothers, Vance, Rudolph, Lawrence, Richard, Donald and Neile. Three sisters, Fay Moore, Lucille Blesi and Estella B. Thompson, infant. Vivian was born in Chattaroy, West Virginia. She graduated from Chattaroy High School and attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia and graduated from Emory & Henry College. Upon graduation she began her teaching career at Wallace High School and continued at John Battle High School. She loved teaching and she dearly loved her students. She was always pleased to see them again in later years.

She is survived by one sister, Carolyn Fleenor of Damascus, Virginia and several nieces and nephews. One sister-in-law, Evelyn Thompson of Salem, Virginia.

Funeral services for Vivian B. Thompson Billings will be conducted on Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Tim Bird officiating and assisted by her nephew, Rev. Lawrence W. Thompson of Dothan, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. on Friday at the Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum until the time of the service at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers one may donate to the charity of choice, Washington County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund, or to the capital building fund of the Glade Spring Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers will be nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers are the very kind friends and neighbors, especially Jean and Ralph Price and Shirley and Melvin Lambert.
