U.S. Army Brigadier General James R. Buggy (Retired), 83, of Tower City passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in the Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Williamstown on March 26, 1930, he was a son of the late John and Stella (Updegrove) Buggy.

Jim was a graduate of the former Williamstown Catholic High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Jim retired as Deputy Adjutant General of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard at Indiantown Gap. He was the recipient of numerous awards and decorations including the Legion of Merit award.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown and attended Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Lykens.

Jim was a sixty year member of the Williamstown American Legion, a former Governor and Life Member of the Tower City Loyal Order of Moose, and a member of the Williamstown Veterans of Foreign Wars.

His life revolved around his family and friends as he was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife: Phyllis (Schwenk) Buggy; his daughter: Nadine (late Warren) Miller; his sister: Marie Czarneki; and, his brothers: Eugene Buggy, Clair "Bee" Buggy, and Jack Buggy.

He is survived by his daughter: Colleen (Matthew) Kirk of Boonsboro, Maryland; his son: James (Gina) Buggy of Cochranville; his granddaughters: Alexandra Kirk, Erin Kirk, and Caitlin Buggy; his grandsons: Warren Miller III, Brendan Miller, Ian Kirk, and Ryan Buggy; and, his nieces and nephews.

A Viewing will be held from 06:00 - 08:00 PM Sunday evening, June 02, 2013 in Dimon Funeral Home, Incorporated, Tower City.

Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated at 08:30 AM on Monday, June 03, 2013 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 732 Main Street, Lykens with Rev. C. Anthony Miller as Celebrant.

Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
