Young Stella married Otto Ostby, son of the Reverend Paul Gjermundsen Ostby, in 1908. They had one young daughter, Sarah Lucille Palma Genevieve ("Lucille"), before their marriage dissolved. Otto was killed in a collision while on duty as a motorcycle cop in 1915.
Stella's second husband was Leslie Solomon Ogden, a native of Canada who was about 17 years her senior; they married in 1911. They had a son of their own, Leslie Jr., in 1913, and raised him alongside Lucille. Stella was widowed in 1919 when Leslie passed away of pneumonia.
Stella died in 1921 at the age of 31, taken by a bout of encephalitis. Her young children would be left orphans by her death. A few short years later, her daughter Lucille would give birth to a daughter of her own, Estelle, and die at the age of 18. She is also buried in Lakewood Cemetery, alongside her husband Earl.
The fate of Leslie Jr. is currently unknown.
