ALBERT BARNES DEAD

WAS A FAMILIAR FIGURE IN THE COURTS FOR OVER TWENTY-FIVE YEARS.

    Albert Barnes, for many years crier in the Luzerne County courts, died at his home, 388 North Washington street, yesterday morning at 4:30 o'clock, and his many friends will be grieved to learn of his demise. He acted in the capacity of crier for over a quarter of a century, and his services were continued until a few years ago. the deceased had been ill for nearly three months. Although his death had not been expected at this time, he was surrounded by the members of his family when the end came. Heart failure was the cause of his demise.
    Deceased was 71 years of age. He was born in this city and has resided here ever since. He was formerly a carpenter by trade and discontinued that calling to accept a court position, being appointed by the late Judge Garrick M. Harding. He was probably the best known of any of the county servants. He had a thorough knowledge of the law library and was valuable to the attorneys of the bar and to the judges.
    He was also a veteran of the Civil War and a member of Conyngham Post. He was married twice. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children by his first wife: Mrs. S. O. Jones of Athens, Pa.; Mrs. William Reese, William, Catherine and Stanley of this city, the latter superintendent of the Hollenback Cemetery; Harry of Sharon, Ohio, Sterling of this city, Alfred and Ernest of Frankford, N. Y., and Harvey of Newark.
