CAFFEE, DOYLE H. SR., 83, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013. He went to God without a fight, but with open arms. He began his life in the small town of Acton, KY, along with 12 other siblings. Living in a small house and the eldest of his siblings, he assisted in helping care for and support his family working on farms and in the community for as little as fifty cents a day. Reckoning this was better than school, he often jumped out the window of the one room school house to catch a wagon going anywhere but there. After moving to Louisville with his family in his teens, he met and married his sweetheart, Ruby. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. He and Ruby have two sons, Doyle Jr. "Harold" and Craig "Boo". He always exemplified the importance and meaning of family by making them the focus of his life. He also taught by his actions; or, his belief in giving your all to your family, and he gave all that he had. His success in life was realized by the many accomplishments of his family of whom he was proud, and by being respected and loved by those who knew him. . He was preceded in death by his parents, Morrison and Mary (Pendleton) Caffee; six brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ruby (Henderson) Caffee; sons, grandchildren, siblings, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and extended family including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as friends he made throughout his lifetime. A celebration of a life well lived will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Camp Quality of Kentuckiana, P. O. Box 35474, Louisville, KY, 40232 or Susan G. Komen for the Cure Louisville Affiliate, 2301 Hurstbourne Village Dr., Suite 700, Louisville, KY, 40299.
