Floyd Calvin Gale "Beloved Husband, Dad and Grandpa"
Floyd Calvin Gale was born July 19, 1914 in Salt Lake City, UT, the son of William Thomas Gale and Huldah Priscilla Hjorth. He was married to Bonnie Rosella Bass in 1937 and they had four children, Sylvia Lynn, Floyd Calvin Jr., twins, Barbara Joan and Beverly Jean. They were divorced. He then married Claire Spencer Butler; Claire died six months later. He married June Pugmire; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had four daughters, Sandra (Tom) Watrous, Marilyn (Jim) Gettings, Diane (Mark) Anderson, Patricia Park; 22 grandchildren, Matthew, Tim, Heather, Dan, Melissa Watrous, Jesse, Jacob, Colin Gettings, Adria, Cameron, Shani, Willy, Emily, Eric, Cliff, Kali, Jon Anderson, Sara, Justin, Lindsay Park, Wayne Janzen, Howie Bagley; and eight great-grandchildren, Zane, Ivy Watrous, Alexis Gettings, Elizabeth Bagley, Nick, Pete, Alex, Tori Janzen.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions of leadership, among which was in the YMMIA (known as Mutual) presidency. He also served in the High Priest Group leadership on two different occasions. He was a worker in the Salt Lake Temple until his health made it impossible. He was very talented in building and repairing things. He could fix about anything. At age 83 he put a new roof on the patio and continued cutting the lawn. Floyd was a Greyhound Bus Driver for 32 years and retired at age 60, 1975.
He is survived by his wife, June; children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine Harmon.
Services Thurs. Feb 27, 2003, 11 a.m. River Oaks LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 8950 S. 1300 W. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Wed. 6:30-8:30 p.m. or Thurs. at the church 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
