GALENA, Kan. — Ellis Leo Stone Jr., age 75, of Galena, Kan., passed from this life Sunday, May 19, 2013.

He was born to Ellis Leo Stone Sr. and Evelyn Irene (Cook) Stone on June 17, 1938, in rural Galena. He lived in the area all of his life.

He was married to Carol L. Turner on Feb. 3, 1968, in Columbus, Kan. She survives.

He was a farmer, a brick layer and a member of the BAC Union Local 15. His work was his hobby in farming, but he also enjoyed motorcycles and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Jana Stone; and one sister, Beaulah Hodge.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Stone, of the home; three sons, E.D. Stone (wife, Valori), of Columbus, Eric Stone, of Galena, and Erol Stone (wife, Amanda), of Columbus; two sisters, Leaulah Hodge (husband, Otto), of Columbus, and Judy Walker (husband, Delbert), of Linn Valley, Kan.; as well as 10 grandchildren.

A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, at 1 p.m. at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, with Pastor Adam Scutti officiating.

Burial will follow in Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
